About Us

From being very young (age 2) I have attended dance classes, taking part in concerts, exams, competitions and eventually teaching. I loved taking part in the concerts and shows, but not so much the competitions or exams.  In 2010 I was looking for a Dance school to send my Daughter too so she could also feel the pleasure performing gives, but all schools came with exams or competitions, so after careful consideration, on 1st may 2010 I opened my own school.  We started in Zetland Church Hall in Redcar with a group of about 15 children, by 2013 we had outgrown the premises and moved to Durham Road Community Centre with a school of around 35 children, we are here to this day with a school of around 60 children, some of who I am proud to be able to say I have watched grow over the last 10 years into wonderful teenagers and young adults.

Each month we give out the Dancer of the Month Trophy.  This is given to a child that has shown hard work and determination, while displaying good manors and kindness to all other students.

We put great effort into getting to know each child as an individual, no matter what age and make sure they feel comfortable in class.  We understand that children learn at different rates and our teaching methods reflect this. Whether it be a high level skill or a simple step the child has achieved, the praise will be just as big as childrens confidence grows immensely with the phrase "Well done" and "Im very proud of you" Our school is based on your child being happy and excelling at their work, and by using positive praise we believe this pushes the children to reach their own personal goals.

My personal goal was to teach children in an atmosphere that promotes Family and belonging, and also to try and help others along the way.  My dancing family and I achieve this by holding 2 shows per year raising money for charity, and I am proud to say to date we have raised approximately £10,000 for various causes including, Paulas Wish £500, The Jessica Jewel Trust £500, Zetland Church roof appeal £500, Kirkleatham Childrens Specialist School £500, The Poppy Appeal £100, Cancer research £1612, Teesside Hospice £2127, Blood Bikes £574 and the Alzheimers Society £600, and more recently, by selling our school T-Shirts £262 for NHS. I know there are other Charities I have missed out.

Come and join our ever growing family and be part of something that makes a difference.

As we have mentioned we are a family, and without those around me we would not be able do the things we do.

BIG THANKS GO TO ..............

MY MUM

More commonly answers to the name the children call her GRANDMA CAROL ......

Grandma Carol works tirelessly behind the scenes at the shows and her work begins months before, with measuring, making and altering the costumes you will see on stage, without her efforts, the shows definitely would not be as colourful.

ELLIE

More commonly know as Ellie-Bells

Ellie has been a great friend and supporter of the school since its conception and has helped out on the admin side of things. I am proud to say she has been my friend for nearly 20 years.,

Glyn

More commonly known by the children as Zumba Glyn

Glyn has taken on the roll as camera man at our shows so the children have a permanent record of their achievements.

Redcar Rugby Club

Our outdoor Dance School !! Huge thanks to Niel Young and the team at Redcar Rugby Club for the use of their pitches to be able to re-open our school, It couldnt of come at a better time to lift the spirits and enable us to be together again (all be it socially distanced)

PARENTS

I can not begin to express my appreciation for all the hard work the parents put in. particularly around show time.  Some parents have been with me a long time and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your children grow into the fantastic little people they are.  I have had the privilege to watch the children go through Primary, to Secondary School onto College and University and I thank you for letting me be part of their lives.
